The 2010 Community Chest BOCHK Charity Golf Day
Raised Over HK$1.7 Million for the Needy
Organised by The Community Chest of Hong Kong and fully supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, The 2010 Community Chest BOCHK Charity Golf Day was successfully held at the Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling Golf Course on 12 March 2010. The charity tournament received encouraging responses. Nearly 200 keen golfers from 49 teams hit the green and over HK$1.7 million was raised to benefit the “Services for the Mentally Ill and Ex-mentallyIll” subvented by the Chest.
To commend their invaluable support, a Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 18 March 2010. Mr Fred Lam, JP, Chairman of Charity Golf Day Organising Committee and Committee Members presented prizes and souvenirs to the winners, sponsors and supporting groups.With impeccable skills, Baker & McKenzie won both the "Champion" title and the "Best Gross Award". The First and Second Runner-ups went to Ryoden Development Limited and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd respectively. Individual awards such as "Longest Drive" and "Closest to the Pin" were also presented to respective outstanding golfers.
At the ceremony, Mr Fred Lam, JP, expressed sincere gratitude to the Title Sponsor – Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited for their ardent support which would enable the Chest to allocate all donations to the needy without any deductions. He also conveyed special thanks and appreciation to Hong Kong Golf Club for providing the excellent venue and waiving all green fees for the charity tournament. He was also grateful to Mr Campbell Elliot, the new Tournament Director and HKTDC United for their professional advice and assistance in making the event a success. Special thanks were also extended to Committee Members, namely Mr Bob Chong, BBS, Mr Charles Chan, Mr Oscar Chow, Mr Calvin Lam, Mr Billy Lau, Mr Charlie Lee, Mr Tom Tang, JP, Ms Suzie Setsuko Wakai, MH and Mr Peter Wong, JP, for their tireless efforts in soliciting corporate participation and sponsorship.
Tributes were also extended to the major prize and souvenir sponsors include The Bank of China Group Insurance Company Limited, KWANPEN, South Asia Textiles (Holding) Limited and Nextbase; as well as Putting Green/Hole Sponsors including Hutchison Whampoa Limited, Sino Group, JSM, MaBelle Jewellery Co.
