In view of the acute demand of quality social welfare services, the Chest has decided to increase the 2010/2011 Baseline Allocations by five percent. In addition to subventing on-going services provided by 148 member social welfare agencies, the Chest will allocate over HK$15 million to support 12 Time Limited Projects and more than HK$6.56 million to nurture 3 Major New Initiatives which meet the ever-changing social welfare services requirements.

“The Community Chest Rainbow Fund” was established in 2004 to provide rapid response to people who find themselves in an emergency financial crisis. As at 31 March 2010, an accumulated amount of over HK$36 million was allocated to benefit nearly 23,000 needy.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club, our Partner in charity, generously supports The Community Chest in helping to subsidise our administrative costs, enabling 100% of the donations to be allocated to our 148 member social welfare agencies.
