The 2010 Community Chest Corporate Challenge
Donations and Participation Achieved Record High
The 2010 Community Chest Corporate Challenge held on 17 January set a new record for the 4th consecutive year by raising over HK$5 million. The number of participants has also increased by 25 per cent compared to last year's record. More than 1,400 runners from 39 corporations and organisations formed 179 teams to take part in the 10 Km Run and 21 Km Half Marathon which set a new record for the event. All participants demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and helped the Chest by directing more resources for the development of "Community Support Services for the Elderly".
An Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 27 April to commend the outstanding runners and organisations. Mr Kong Churk-hoi, Billy, BBS, MH, JP, 2009/2010 Executive Committee Deputy Chairman of The Community Chest; Mr Edward Cheung and Mr Carmelo Lee, Co-Chairmen of The Community Chest Corporate Challenge Organising Committee, presented awards and souvenirs to the winners, sponsors and supporting organisations.
Runners from Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited won the most awards by taking away Women's Gold and Bronze Awards in at 10 Km Run; Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in Men’s Half Marathon and Silver and Bronze Awards in Women's Half Marathon, as well as Gold Award in Corporate Teams at this Race. The Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited, another staunch supporter of The Community Chest Corporate Challenge also demonstrated excellent performance by winning the Gold Award in Corporate Team 10 Km Run, Gold and Silver Awards in Men's 10 Km Run, as well as Silver Award and Bronze Awards in Corporate Team Half Marathon. The Fastest Chief Executive Awards for Half Marathon and 10 Km Run went to Mr Timothy Wong of CIMB Securities (HK) Limited and Mr Fong Chun-yau of Analogue Group of Companies respectively.
Among the participating organisations, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited enthusiastically encouraged their staff to participate in this meaningful event and raise funds for the Chest every year. The Company had raised over HK$3.56 million and was presented with the Top Fund-raising Corporation Award for the fifteenth consecutive year. The second and third Highest Fund-raising Corporation Award went to Woo Kwan Lee & Lo and Analogue Group of Companies respectively.
The Chest expressed its sincere gratitude to the event sponsors – Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, Woo Kwan Lee and Lo, Swire Coca-Cola HK and Royal Plaza Hotel. Special appreciation was also given to Athletic Veterans of Hong Kong for providing professional advice and logistical support over the years which made the event a success.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club, our Partner in charity, generously supports The Community Chest in helping to subsidise our administrative costs, enabling 100% of the donations to be allocated to our 148 member social welfare agencies.

In addition to attaining the Corporate Team Gold Award in 10 Km Run, The Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited also won a number of individual awards in this event. Mr Edward Cheung (middle), Co-Chairman of The Community Chest Corporate Challenge Organising Committee presented award to the representative and runners of the Company.
