The idea
to dress casual on a working day to raise
fund for charity originated from the
United States. The Community Chest first
introduced this idea to Hong Kong in
1993.
Dress Casual
Day is a popular fund-raising event. The
number of participants is increasing every
year. In order to increase the involvement
of the participants in the event, different
competitions are held every year. All the
participating organisations and schools
also carry out some internal functions to
show their support.
Last Year, Dress
Casual Day raised over HK$19 million
for more than 1,400 organisations,
government departments, schools, with
over 520,000 participants. All donations
raised have been passed on in full to
benefit the "Family & Child
Welfare Services"
supported by the chest, without deduction
for administrative costs.
Each year, souvenir
stickers are given to participants to
show their support
for the event and their care for the
needy. Participants can also obtain the
souvenir stickers for retention. Please
