First Community Chest Virtual Walk Raises Over HK$5.3 Million to Benefit Family and Child Welfare Services

Walk for Millions is the most iconic fundraising event of The Community Chest (the Chest). Amid the pandemic and social distancing measures, the Chest launched its first-ever virtual walk, The Community Chest Virtual Walk for Millions, early this year. With full support by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, the virtual walk raised over HK$5.3 million. All donations will go towards family and child welfare services supported by the Chest.
The virtual walk attracted the participation of over 5,500 people from 40 organisations and members of the public. The participants were required to walk 10,000 steps from 31 January to 14 February 2021 at any time and place and in any form. And the total number of the steps recorded was over 105 million.
At the Virtual Walk Cheque and Award Presentation Ceremony on 17 June 2021, Event Organising Committee Chairman Mr Vincent Wong and other co-chairmen presented awards and commended the participants’ contributions to local charitable work. The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association and Eastern District won the Top Fundraiser and Top Fundraising District awards, respectively.
