Our Structure

The Chest is a corporation established under the Community Chest of Hong Kong Ordinance in 1968. It is an independent, non-profit organisation neither funded nor operated by the government. The Chest is governed by a board of directors composed of business and community leaders.

Underneath the board are the Executive, Campaign, Public Relations, and Admissions, Budgets & Allocations committees, as well as sub-committees served by over 300 different professionals.

The Chest has a long-standing tradition of enjoying the patronage of the city’s leader since its founding. The current Patron is the Honourable Mr John K C Lee, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Retired board members and senior government officials, in their capacities as Vice Patrons and Senior Advisers, support and help promote the work of the Chest.

The work of the Chest Office is supported by some 40 staff members, headed by the Chief Executive.
