The Community Chest New Territories Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O Walk for Millions was successfully held on Sunday, 20 November 2022. Individual supporters as well as 200 teams formed by companies and organizations, totalling around 15,000 participants, set foot on the Cross Bay Link in Tseung Kwan O – which will be open to traffic in December – to raise funds for family and child welfare services supported by the Chest.
Walk for Millions is a well-known fundraising event in Hong Kong. Since its inception in 1971, it has enjoyed strong support from the general public. This was the first in-person Walk for Millions since the outbreak of pandemic, and the Chest would like to express utmost gratitude to the sponsor, Bank of China (Hong Kong). All funds raised from the event, without deductions of administration expenses, will be allocated to 24 member agencies that provide family and child welfare services. Also, the Chest is deeply grateful for the immense support given by the government departments and the volunteers from uniformed groups.
The walk started near the junction of Po Yap Road and Po Shun Road, then proceeded to the Tseung Kwan O Interchange along a new route before heading to the Cross Bay Link Marine Viaduct. Walkers took a return route to the finish point at a landscaped deck near Tong Yin Street. The total distance was approximately 6 km, and it took around 1.5 hours to complete the whole journey. A certificate of merit was given to every participant who completed the walk.
