The Debut Community Chest Sports for Millions Raises Over HK$2 million for Youth Services

The debut Community Chest Sports for Millions was successfully held on Saturday, 18 March 2023 at Disciplined Services Sports and Recreation Club. Over 40 teams from corporates, disciplinary forces and the Chest’s member agencies participated in four competitions including badminton, table tennis, swimming and soccer game, as well as the finale fun game. The event was able to increase mutual understanding among Chest’s stakeholders and help build team spirit among team members, while raising over HK$2 million for youth services supported by the Chest. The Chest would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Bank of China (Hong Kong) (“BOCHK”) for its full support. Its generosity enables the Chest to allocate all funds raised to member agencies that provide youth services, without deduction of administration expenses. Special thanks also go to 65 BOCHK volunteers for strongly assisting and supporting various sports competitions that attributed to the smooth launch of the event.

Guests officiating at the kick-off ceremony were: Mr Siu Chak Yee, Commissioner of Police; Mr Au Ka Wang, Director of Immigration; Ms Ho Pui Shan, Louise, Commissioner of Customs & Excise; Mr Ng Chiu Kok, Deputy Commissioner of Correctional Services; Mr Yeung Yan Kin, Andy, Director of Fire Services; Ms Yim Hau-wan, Evalina, Director of Community Relations of ICAC; Captain James W L Sze, Acting Controller of Government Flying Services; Mr Stephen Chan, Deputy Chief Executive of BOCHK; Mr Paulo Pong, Chairman of the Campaign Committee; Board Members Mr Lionel Lam, Mr Charles Yang and Mr Alexander Yeung, joined by the Event Organising Committee.

The awards were handed out by the Guest of Honour Mr Cheuk Hau Yip, Acting Secretary for Security to the Champions, 1st & 2nd runners up of the corporate and disciplinary forces category.

The Chest is grateful for the support of major sponsors: China-Hongkong Photo Products Holdings Limited, Citi, Dorsett Hospitality International Services Limited and Lan Kwai Fong Group. The Chest would also like to express its appreciation to the Security Bureau for providing the Disciplined Services Sports and Recreation Club as the venue for this event.

The kick-off ceremony was officiated by representatives from the Chest, the fully supporting organization – BOCHK, and Chief representatives from disciplinary forces.
