The Community Chest 55th Anniversary Walk for Millions took place today (7 January) at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge - Hong Kong Link Road. Over 170 walking teams formed by companies and organisations and individual walkers, totalling around 11,000 participants, took part in the charity walk to raise funds for family and child welfare services supported by the Chest. The Chest would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Bank of China (Hong Kong) for its full support, which enables the Chest to allocate all funds raised to its member agencies in support of family and child welfare services, without deduction of administrative expenses.
The Honourable John K C Lee, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Mr Zheng Yanxiong, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, graced the event as Guests of Honour. They were joined by Mr Paul Lam, Secretary for Justice; Miss Alice Mak, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs; Mr Siu Chak-yee, Commissioner of Police; Mr Sun Yu, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of Bank of China (Hong Kong), the sponsor of the event; Chest’s officers including Dr Simon Kwok, Chairman of the Executive Committee; Mr Paulo Pong, Chairman of the Campaign Committee; Mr Billy Kong, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee; Dr Pamela Chan, Chairman of the Public Relations Committee; Campaign Committee Co-chairmen Ms Diana Cesar, Dr Dennis Sun, Mr Stanley Sun and Mr Charles Yang; Dr Chow Kam Wai and Ms Jennifer Yeung, Chairmen of The Community Chest 55th Anniversary Walk for Millions Organising Committee and Co-chairmen Dr Alice Yeung, Mr Chow Chiu-sheung, Mr Lam Yick-kuen, Mr Choi Kam-kong, Ms Candy Liu, Dr Ip Kung-ching and Dr Philip Ma and Ir Simon Li, Chairman of AsiaWorld-Expo. Celebrities from Television Broadcasts Limited and ViuTV had also formed teams to show their support.

In addition, the Chest is deeply grateful for the immense support given by volunteers from various government departments and uniformed groups.
The walk started near the west portal of Scenic Hill Tunnel of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge - Hong Kong Link Road. Participants walked along the Hong Kong Bound Lane and took a return route near Sha Lo Wan to the finish point. The total distance was approximately 6 km and it took around 2 hours to complete the whole journey. Participants who completed the walk would receive a certificate of merit at the finish point.
