The Community Chest 56th Annual General Meeting Chest Strives to Address Imminent Social Needs Amid Difficult Times
2025-06-24

Since its establishment in 1968, the Community Chest moves with the times to address imminent needs in society. Despite the economic challenges, the Chest is grateful for the unwavering support received from donors and corporate partners. Over HK$318.5 million was raised in the 2024/2025 campaign year, which allowed the Chest to fulfill its funding pledges to 167 member agencies. In the same year, the Chest had allocated more than HK$308 million to member agencies to support a wide range of quality social welfare services and funds for designated purposes.

At the 56th Annual General Meeting held on 23 June, Mrs Janet Lee, President of the Chest said, “The Community Chest has stayed true to its founding vision of gathering resources to help the less fortunate in our community, and thereby help maintaining stability in society”.

For twenty-one years, The Community Chest Rainbow Fund has been providing timely financial assistance to individuals and families stranded in difficult situations or emergencies. Meanwhile, The Community Chest Medical Assistance Fund launched in 2022 has entered the fourth year of operation. To fill the service gaps for target individuals, this year the fund has expanded its scope to include two new services to support the underprivileged and disadvantaged.

Thirteen members were elected to the 2025/2026 Board of Directors (see backgrounder for details) at the Annual General Meeting. Also, the Chest thanked the eight retiring Board members, Mr Anson Chan, Dr Pamela Chan, Mr Raymund Chao, Mr Stephen Fung, Mr Stanley Sun, Mr Alexander K K Yeung, Mr Lucian Yu and Mr Jonathan Zeman, for their invaluable contributions.
