Press Releases
The five-alarm fire at Wang Fook Court in Tai Po has caused severe casualties and injuries. In response to this tragedy, the Chest has announced yesterday (27 November) the immediate allocation of HK$50 million from its reserves to set up “The Community Chest Tai Po Fire Relief Fund” to provide urgent financial assistance to families and individuals impacted by the fire.
After careful consideration, the Chest has decided to cancel The Community Chest Hong Kong & Kowloon Walk for Millions 2025/26 - Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei Section), originally scheduled for this Sunday, 30 November. This will enable all relevant departments and supporting organisations to focus their resources on post-fire relief and recovery efforts. All donations received for the event will be fully allocated to “The Community Chest Tai Po Fire Relief Fund” upon the consent of donors. The Community Chest office will follow up on all related arrangements.
The Chest extends its heartfelt gratitude to all sectors for their generous support. Sa Sa Making Life Beautiful Charity Fund has taken the lead in donating HK$1 million to “The Community Chest Tai Po Fire Relief Fund” to help those in need. All donations received will be allocated in full to provide timely relief to families and individuals impacted by the fire, with no deduction of administrative expenses.
