The Community Chest swiftly allocated HK$50 million from its reserves to set up “The Community Chest Tai Po Fire Relief Fund” (“the Fund”) on 27 November 2025 to provide urgent financial assistance to families and individuals impacted by the Wang Fuk Court fire.
Through the eight assessment centres of the Chest member agencies, the Chest has swiftly disbursed a relief grant of HK$20,000 each to 1,941 affected households, and a condolence payment of HK$50,000 each to 166 bereaved families with the assistance of Social Welfare Department. The total amount of disbursements already made was over HK$47 million.
As at today, the Fund has raised over HK$100 million in donations. All donations will be used in an effective way to support households affected by the fire, with no deduction of administrative expenses. The Chest is closely following up on the resources required for the post-fire relief efforts. Appropriate support measures will be introduced in a timely manner in response to the actual needs of affected families.
The Community Chest Tai Po Fire Relief Fund will cease to accept public donations as from 1 April 2026. The Chest sincerely thanks all corporate and individual donors for their generous support in bringing hope to the affected families.
