Press Releases
With generous support from corporate and individual donors, “The Community Chest Tai Po Fire Relief Fund” has raised over HK$100 million in donations, and the Fund has ceased to accept public donations as from 1 April 2026. The Chest has kept a close monitoring on post-fire relief needs and possible support measures for all affected households.
Following the Wang Fuk Court Long-term Housing Arrangement Plan put forward by the Government, affected households can opt for the new home arrangements according to their respective circumstances and needs. It is anticipated that the new home occupancy will commence progressively from the fourth quarter of 2026. The Chest is going to launch a second round of disbursement to help affected households to meet relocations and refurbishment expenses. A “Home Settlement Assistance Grant” of HK$57,000 will be disbursed to each Wang Fuk Court household between 4 to 29 May 2026 through the eight Rainbow Fund assessment centres.
The total amount of disbursements for this round of assistance will exceed HK$113 million. Together with over HK$47 million of emergency relief grants and condolence payments made in the first round in December last year, a total of over HK$160 million would have been granted to support Wang Fuk Court households. We sincerely thank all corporate and individual donors for their generosity. All donations with no deduction of administrative expenses will be used to provide timely relief and support to the Wang Fuk Court families.
