Bank of China (Hong Kong) Donates HK$13 million for Novel Coronavirus Relief Care Kits for the Underprivileged and Medical Staff Financial Assistance for Victims and Their Families
Different sectors in Hong Kong are stepping up their efforts to support the community fight against the epidemic of novel coronavirus. Amid the coronavirus threat, Bank of China (Hong Kong) generously donated HK$13 million to The Community Chest of Hong Kong to help the underprivileged, medical staff as well as the virus patients and their families.
To safeguard the health of the underprivileged in this critical period, 50,000 Care Kits in an assortment of surgical mask, hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial spray, 1 kg rice bag, vitamin C tablet and immunity-boosting soup pack will be distributed through the Chest’s member agencies from late February to March. The first batch of Care Kits will be distributed to the needy next week.
To show the deepest gratitude to the medical staff, 90,000 Care Kits (hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial spray) will be sent to the Hospital Authority for arrangement of distribution to its staff.
To help the virus confirmed patients to cope with financial difficulty, special fund will be reserved for families of Hong Kong residents who died and afflicted by the disease. Each family of the deceased will receive HK$50,000, and confirmed cases will each receive HK$20,000.
Over the years, the Chest has been proud to help direct community resources into local social welfare system. Bank of China (Hong Kong) has been heavily involved in community investment via corporate donations and staff participation in Chest events.
