The 6th Community Chest Wheelock Swim for Millions
Sportsmanship × Heart for the Youth
We love swimming! It builds endurance and muscle strength, but in The Community Chest Wheelock Swim for Millions, you can swim to make an impact to our society as well! Back by popular demand for the 6th consecutive year, this charity event is to take place on Sunday 7 October 2018 at Repulse Bay Beach, thanks to the continuous support from title sponsor Wheelock and Company Limited. Application is now open for all swimming enthusiasts to take this golden chance to pursue their favourite sport while raising funds for youth services.
On that day, a series of exciting competition, including Golden Kilometre Race, Relay Races (family, corporate, disciplined force and school) and the non-race Swim for Fun (please refer to the Appendix), will be held in the sea. All donations raised will go to support “Youth Services” provided by the Chest’s member agencies. The Community Chest cares about young people as future leaders. The event aims to highlight the sport spirits found in the swimming lovers and to instil their fearlessness and courage in the Chest’s beneficiaries.
Interested parties please enroll before 7 September. Enrollment is on a first-come-first-served basis due to limited places. For details, please visit Swim for Millions webpage at Asides from joining the competition, the participants and cheering teams are also welcome to enjoy their moment in the game booths, food booths and sand castles workshop.
The Community Chest Wheelock Swim for Millions 2018 is led by the Event Organising Committee Chairman Mr Douglas C K Woo, JP, Co-Chairmen Mr Stephen Fung, Ms Angel Ng, Mr Victor Pang, Mr Stanley Sun and Mr Jonathan Zeman. About The Community Chest of Hong Kong
The Community Chest of Hong Kong was established in 1968 as an independent, non-profit making organisation neither funded, nor operated by the Government. Each year, the Chest organises fund-raising events to benefit over 160 member social welfare agencies that reach out to more than two million beneficiaries in Hong Kong in six major areas of services: children & youth, elderly, family & child welfare, medical & health, rehabilitation & aftercare, and community development. The Chest’s administrative expenses come from a subsidised grant from our partner-in-charity, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, in addition to income from investments. This allows the Chest to allocate 100% of funds raised to charitable use; this operations model makes the Chest unique among its peers, and helps fulfil its mission to act as trustee of the donors.
