The Community Chest 50th Anniversary Walk for Millions (Central-Wan Chai Bypass) Stepped Out for Family and Child Welfare Services
2019-01-07
The Community Chest 50th Anniversary Walk for Millions was held yesterday (6 January) at Hong Kong’s new infrastructure development, Central-Wan Chai Bypass. Over 20,000 participants comprising more than 210 teams and individual donors enrolled in the event to raise funds for family and child welfare services.

Started in 1971, the Walk for Millions is a signature fund-raiser of the Chest. This year, the walk took on a new route – from Edinburgh Place in Central via the Central-Wan Chai Bypass to the finish point at Oil Street at North Point. The walk was about 5.3 km in distance, with 3.7 km of it in a tunnel. It took walkers around two hours to complete the walk.

The Community Chest would like to thank Bank of China (Hong Kong) for their full support and generous sponsorship of its 50th Anniversary Walk for Millions. All donations, without deduction of administrative expenses, would be used to provide services for the needy in Hong Kong. Special tribute was also paid to Highways Department, Home Affairs Department, Hong Kong Police Force, and other government departments; uniformed groups as well as other Supporting Organisations who contributed towards the success of the Walk.
