The Community Chest Launches “New Banknote Charity Collective Sets” Phase Two

The Community Chest of Hong Kong is launching the “New Banknote Charity Collective Sets” Phase Two to raise funds for the needy. With the issuance of all the five denominations of the 2018 Banknote Series, Hong Kong’s three note-issuing banks (NIBs) –  Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, Th­e Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited have generously donated banknotes to Th­e Community Chest to support the “New Banknote Charity Collective Sets” charity campaign.
 
The campaign provides three charity sets under the “Excellence Collection” and “Supreme Collection” for public bidding and subscription, including the debut launch of 40-in-1 uncut HK$50 banknotes. All funds raised will be allocated to over 160 social welfare member agencies, without deduction of administrative costs.

Application Methods
 
Interested parties can submit bidding / subscription application from 21 September to 23 October 2020 (12:00 noon) by:
 
  • Mail application – Applicable to all New Banknote Charity Collective Sets. Application Form can be downloaded from event website: https://newbanknotes.commchest.org or obtained at the Chest’s office.
  • Online application – Only applicable to subscription of Excellence Collection –  40-in-1 Uncut HK$50 Banknote Set (HK$16,888). Applicants must submit their applications via the campaign website, along with online payment.
Bidding and Subscription Details
 
  • Bidding – Each person can bid for more than one serial number. The banknote set will go to the highest bidder if more than one bid are received. If two or more bids with same amount for a particular number are received, the set will be allocated by a draw to be attended by KPMG.
  • Subscription – Each person can subscribe up to four sets (two sets per each category of charity set). If there is over subscription for a particular charity set, the set will be allocated by a draw to be attended by KPMG.

  • Each set consists of three pieces of 40-in-1 uncut HK$50 banknotes, issued by each of the three NIBs respectively, without matching serial number. This is the first time HK$50 uncut banknotes made available for charity purpose.
