HKEX Charity Partnership Programme 2022 Opens for Applications by Chest and HKCSS Member Agencies with Donation of HK$50 million to the Chest
2022-05-16

The Community Chest of Hong Kong (the Chest) and HKEX Foundation today announced that the HKEX Charity Partnership Programme 2022 (the Programme) is open for applications from 16 May to 15 June 2022. In addition to the Chest’s member agencies, member agencies of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service are also eligible to apply in this round.

Applications will be vetted by the Chest’s Admissions, Budgets and Allocations Committee, and the results will be announced in December 2022. Both the application form and guidelines can be downloaded from https://bit.ly/3vyPMN8 and https://bit.ly/3KxMJJb, respectively.

Through the Programme, the Chest collaborates with HKEX Foundation to support community projects that address social and environmental challenges across four areas: Financial Literacy, Diversity and Inclusion, Poverty Relief and Environmental Sustainability.

This year, HKEX Foundation has pledged HK$50 million for the Programme; this represents more than double of the combined amount contributed by HKEX Foundation in the past two years.

Mrs Laura M Cha, HKEX Chairman and Chairman of HKEX Foundation, said: “As a purpose-driven company, HKEX is committed to the long-term development of our markets, as well as our community. We are proud that the HKEX Charity Partnership Programme has made significant achievements in supporting those in need, especially during such challenging periods over the last two years. By allocating more resources and scaling up the Programme to support more organisations, we seek to strengthen our engagement with the community and bring even more meaningful and positive impact to our society.”

Dr Simon Kwok, Chairman of the Chest’s Executive Committee, said: “We are heartened with HKEX Foundation’s increased commitment to the HKEX Charity Partnership Programme. Over the past two years, the programme has proved itself to be an impactful initiative that empowers our member agencies to scale up their efforts to address societal needs and for Hong Kong’s sustainable development. We have no doubts that with the increase in funding, we will be able to attract more quality and innovative proposals that are beneficial to the community.”

Since 2020, HKEX Foundation has already contributed a total of HK$40 million in support of 18 community projects through the Programme. It is expected that these projects will benefit more than 60,000 people in need.
